Moraine collects nothing. There is no Moraine account, no server of ours, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no third-party SDKs. Your entries are stored on your devices and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud database. The developer cannot read them.
This page is deliberately specific rather than reassuring. Below is every piece of data the app touches, and every occasion on which anything leaves your device.
Nothing. No entries, no metadata, no usage statistics, no crash reports tied to you, no email address. There is no mechanism in the app that sends anything to the developer, because there is no server to send it to.
If Apple sends the developer anything, it is Apple's own aggregate App Store reporting — download and sales counts, and optional anonymised crash and usage statistics if you have opted into sharing them with developers in your device settings. None of it identifies you, and none of it contains anything you wrote.
If you are signed into iCloud, Moraine syncs your library through your own iCloud account, in what Apple calls the private database. It is your storage, under your Apple Account, subject to Apple's privacy policy. The developer has no access to it and no ability to grant anyone else access to it.
If you are not signed in, or you turn iCloud off for Moraine, everything stays on that one device and nothing syncs.
There are five, and two of them are off unless you turn them on.

When a capture names a specific work, the title alone is sent to Apple's iTunes Search API (itunes.apple.com) or Wikipedia (en.wikipedia.org) to fetch a link and cover. The title is spotted on-device first; the text of your capture is never sent. This is the only feature that tells a server anything about what you wrote, which is why it is off until you ask for it. |

Your coordinates are turned into a place name using Apple's MapKit, which means the coordinates go to Apple for that lookup. The place name and coordinates are then stored in your library. |

Apple may also download on-device model assets — for speech transcription and for the semantic index — the first time they are needed. That is a download from Apple to you, not an upload.

Entries are indexed into your device's Spotlight so they appear in system search. That index is local to your device and managed by the operating system. Removing an entry from Moraine removes it from the index.
The purchase is handled entirely by Apple. The developer never sees your payment details, and receives no personal information from the transaction. The app records locally that it has been unlocked, and keeps the date your trial began in the device keychain.
Moraine is a personal notebook and is not directed at children. It collects nothing from anyone, of any age.
Settings → Backup → Export everything writes a folder of plain JSON with your photos and recordings beside it as ordinary files, readable without Moraine. It works during the trial, after the trial, and whether or not you have bought the app. Deleting the app deletes its local library; if you sync, the copy in your iCloud account is removed when you delete Moraine's data from iCloud in your device settings.
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes and the previous versions remain in the site's public history. A change that meant Moraine started collecting something would be announced in the app before it took effect.
