Moraine is a personal capture app for iPhone, iPad and Mac. By using it you agree to these terms. If you do not, the App Store's refund process is the remedy, and your export keeps working either way.
A licence to use Moraine on the devices associated with your Apple Account, for as long as the app runs on them. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. There is nothing to cancel and no recurring charge.
Everything in the app works for a 14-day trial. When that ends, capture, browsing, keyword search, import and export continue to work; the on-device intelligence — generated titles, summaries and tags, search by meaning, related entries and resurfacing — is what the purchase turns back on.
You keep every right you have in what you write, record and photograph in Moraine. The developer claims no licence over it, receives no copy of it, and cannot read it. See the privacy policy.
Export is never gated. The export feature works during the trial, after the trial has expired, and whether or not you have bought the app. That is a deliberate commitment, not an oversight, and it will not be removed in a later version.
Moraine stores your library on your devices and, if you use iCloud, in your own iCloud account. It is software, and software has bugs; devices are lost and accounts get locked out. Keep your own backups — Settings → Backup → Export everything, somewhere that is not the same device. The developer cannot recover a lost library for you, because the developer has no copy of it.
Don't use Moraine to break the law, and don't try to redistribute, resell or reverse-engineer the app beyond what your local law permits regardless of this clause. That is the whole list.
When you save a link, Moraine fetches that page to keep its readable text, and may attach a link and cover art from Apple's catalogue or Wikipedia if you have turned that feature on. That content belongs to whoever made it and is subject to their terms. Moraine does not endorse it and cannot vouch for it.
The app may change between versions: features can be added, altered or removed, and support for older operating systems ends when Apple's does. If a future version ever moved something out of the one-time purchase, it would be a new product you could choose to buy — not something taken away from the version you already own.
Moraine is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind to the extent the law allows. To the extent the law allows, the developer is not liable for lost data, lost profits, or indirect or consequential damages, and total liability is limited to what you paid for the app.
Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have that cannot legally be excluded — including, in Australia, the consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law, and comparable statutory rights elsewhere.
Purchases are made through the App Store, so refunds are handled by Apple under its own policy at reportaproblem.apple.com. The developer cannot issue refunds directly.
Apple is not a party to these terms and has no responsibility for the app or its support. Apple's standard licensed-application terms also apply to your use of the app, and where they conflict with anything here, they win.
These terms are governed by the law of South Australia, Australia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
